ACK Sender

The ACK Sender returns HL7 ACK or NAK messages to hospital senders immediately after parse validation — before slow mapping or clinical writes complete.

Why ACK early

Hospital interface engines often retry on timeout. ACKing after parse — not after EMPI match — keeps partners stable while clinical processing continues async.

Behaviour

  • Builds MSA/ERR segments reflecting accept, reject or error condition.
  • Sends on the same MLLP session that delivered the inbound message.
  • Never ACKs messages that failed structural validation in the HL7 Parser.
