HL7 Parser

The HL7 Parser converts HL7 v2.x segments (MSH, PID, PV1, OBX, …) into a structured internal representation used by mapping and archival.

Parsing errors produce NAK responses so hospitals can retry or alert their interface engine — silent drops are never acceptable on ADT/ORU paths.

Behaviour

  • Validates message type and trigger event (e.g. ADT^A01, ORU^R01).
  • Normalises encoding and segment delimiters per MSH.
  • Emits a canonical parse result to the Mapping Service path.
  • Feeds the ACK Sender with accept/reject status.

Downstream sibling: receives from MLLP Listener.
